Job Opportunities in Medical Records
Individuals working in medical records are responsible for organizing and maintaining the health records in a healthcare facility. They are responsible for making sure that a patient has all the necessary information and records in the file, and that pertinent information is entered into the patient's medical record on the computer. Depending upon where a person works in medical records, they may also be responsible for coding a patient's medical file.
While some medical offices and facilities do allow for medical records personnel to receive training on the job, most prefer for individuals in this position to have some education from a community college in the area of medical and health information systems or management. Upon completion of an educational program, medical records personnel can expect an average yearly salary of $25,000.
